Zolo Bonarda 2013 (red)
I first tasted this Bonarda from Argentina and knew it was a wine had to to keep an eye out for more often. Similar to Malbec, it has a tone of freshly ground black pepper and goes well with steak and other red meats. The Zolo Bonarda is a nice full-bodied and fairly distinctive wine. I’m not sure why it’s not as easily found on the shelves but can guess it’s been overshadowed by the Malbec. I’m definitely keeping a vigilant eye for this one. Argentina has taken a relatively unknown Italian grape variety and made it distinctly their own! Bravo! Once people discover this little gem, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more.
