Antichi Vinai Il Mascalese Nerello 2013 (red)
In the shadow of the Sicilian Nero D’Avola grape lies it’s lesser known sibling, the Narello Mascaliese grape (AKA the Calabrese grape). It’s much lighter in color and a nice ‘ruby Red’ compared to the intense purple of the Nero D’Avola. Take note that the lighter in color doesn’t mean it’s light on flavor as it’s remarkably deceptive. The Narello Mascalese does need a bit of time to open up so let iy breath.
