Asian-Style Braised Baby Bok Choy

There’s something about bok choy, iwe can’t get enough of it. It’s delectable, inexpensive and easy to cook. Bok choy is a staple in Asian cuisine and packed full of nutrients. With is mild taste it a complements many dishes especially in Asian cuisine. For a healthy meal add some noodles or brown rice along with a small piece of meat, fish or shrimp.

Ingredients
Bunch of Bok Choy (6+), halved
2 cloves garlic, slivered
1-2 carrots, sliced diagonally
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1/4 cup asian cooking wine or white wine (semi sweet white wine, Riesling, Marsala or sherry)
1/4 cup Chicken stock (try our homemade version), you can also use vegetable stock
2 tbsp Avocado oil
2 tbsp Sesame oil
White pepper – to taste
Salt – to taste

Directions
1. Heat 1 tbsp avocado oil and 1 tbsp sesame oil in a large pot and sear the bok choy.

2. Toss in the garlic, the oyster sauce and a tbsp of the avocado and sesame oils (total of 2 tbsp).

3. Let cook for a few minutes and then add the 1/4 cup of wine followed by the 1/4 cup of chicken stock.

4. As the stock comes to a simmer, add salt and white pepper to taste

5. Toss in the carrots. Cover and let simmer until the carrots are tender (to your liking).

6. Serve as a vegetable side or toss with Asian noodles or rice
